We know that learning and development will help to ensure that any proposed or existing services among the varied sectors that we support are most effectively meeting identified needs in the community, and are not overly duplicated or hard to find.
The first National Mikey Powell Memorial Family Fund Annual Gala Dinner & Campaigners Awards took place on 25 November 2023 at the Legacy Centre.
It combined 3 significant events in-one.
On Thursday 26 October 2023, Catalyst 4 Change held its second annual Black Thrive CommUNITY Assembly at Midlands Arts Centre. The theme for this year’s Assembly was 'Community Power'.
This event took place in Manchester on 27 May 2023 and was a free family-only fun day, entertainment, socialising pampering event for those affected by neglect, killings and deaths in state custody.
On the 14 May 2022 more than 100 Black community members, community organisations and allies gathered for the launch of Catalyst 4 Change’s Black Thrive Birmingham programme.
This event took place on 10 September marking the 18th anniversary of the death of Mikey Powell in West Midlands police custody, and celebrated 6 years of the National Mikey Powell Memorial Family Fund.
A new film exploring how a Black majority church in Birmingham is challenging mental health stigma and discrimination in the communities it serves is now available to watch on our YouTube channel.
The Red Earth Collective produced a radio advertising campaign and a series of podcasts and interviews to support the wellbeing of African and Caribbean communities around the impacts of COVID-19.
This FREE event was for service users, family members/relatives/carers/advocates, healthcare professionals and community members, and took place in conjunction with Catalyst 4 Change.
Catalyst 4 Change held a Learning Seminars focusing on the tragic events and sustained campaign that led to the Mental Health Use of Force Act (Seni's Law) being passed through parliament in 2018.
Catalyst 4 Change worked closely with Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health Trust to organise this important event aimed primarily at Trust staff, voluntary & community sector practitioners and carers.
A rallying cry for Black communities to play a much greater part in determining their own wellbeing and to push for improvement, was made at this cross-sector mental health conference.
