The National Mikey Powell Memorial Family Fund is the first, and only, national resource of its kind providing small grants and wellbeing support for those affected by deaths in state custody. They also run (or are developing) a range of other support services for families, children and young people in need.
The Mentoring & Advocacy Support Hub (MASH), works primarily with African-Caribbean men and women in Birmingham with lived experience of mental health to provide leadership development, social activities, build resilience and provide easy access to a range of community-based services.
Red Alert HELP! provides a 24/7 DIY Advice Portal , and seeks to develop a 24Hr telephone / text support, advocacy and advice for families affected by deaths or abuses in state custody, or concerned about vulnerable relatives or friends detained in various types of institutional custody .
The service incubation provision provides the safety net of Catalyst acting as the accountable body for fledgling and / or developing organisations until they have the necessary infrastructure to be fully independent.
“MASH (originally part of National Mind) would have had a bleak future if not for the intervention of CATALYST to provide incubation, business planning and fundraising support. We look forward to the future with more confidence”
Tippa Naphtali / M.A.S.H
“We thank Catalyst 4 Change for providing an excellent support and incubation structure for the Fund and being the accountable body until we're at the stage where we can become a UK charitable organisation in our own right”
Jaki Miller / NMPMFF
