"The National Mikey Powell Memorial Family Fund (NMPMFF) is incubated by Catalyst 4 Change."
In order to maximise how the NMPMFF uses its limited financial and human resources, in 2024 they'll be introducing new systems in relation to their operations, grants and partnerships.
This will include making support grants criteria much more focussed on those in most urgent need, and their Holiday Fund will be made more streamlined and easier for eligible families to apply.
Families or campaigns that require support with more functional resources (e.g. IT hardware or stationary, t-shirt print and marketing, websites and social media etc) will be encouraged to use the NMPMFF low-priced Give-Back-Shop.
NMPMFF will also be reviewing and extending their Assessment Partner relationships, and introducing quarterly LIVE Q&A sessions for partners and families via Zoom.
Finally, they'll be seeking to increase public donations, sponsorships and core funding for staffing and service developments, in order to ensure that the National Memorial Family Fund is secure well into the future.

Background to the NMPMFF
On 7th September 2015, the twelfth anniversary of the death of Mikey Powell, who was killed in the custody of West Midlands Police, campaigning news group 4WardEverUK, launched the National Family Fund Appeal. The Fund was developed in conjunction with the Friends of Mikey Powell Campaign, The United Families & Friends Campaign (UFFC) and Migrant Media. Organisers also acknowledged the late campaigner, Pauline Campbell, who died in May 2008.
The National Memorial Family Fund is the first permanent national resource of its kind specifically for those affected by deaths and killings in custody or state neglect, making small grants available for families and their campaign groups across the UK to provide practical domestic assistance and campaign support, We also run (or are developing) a range of other support services for families, children and young people that are affected.
Founder, Tippa Naphtali (cousin of Mikey Powell) said; "The needs of affected families often gets lost in the equally important work of campaigning and lobbying of the state. We want to change that with a permanent fund set up specifically for their needs."
